1. Introduction to Mentoring

You are being mentored by [Mentor Name] at Evolution Education. Mentoring is a supportive relationship designed to help you achieve your goals, develop your skills, and support your wellbeing.

2. Confidentiality

What we keep private: Your mentoring sessions are confidential. This means that what you share with your mentor will generally stay between you and your mentor.

When we need to share information: However, there are important exceptions to confidentiality:

• Safeguarding concerns: If you or someone else is at risk of harm, we have a legal duty to share this information with appropriate professionals (e.g., Designated Safeguarding Lead, Social Services, Police).
• Child protection: Any concerns about abuse, neglect, or exploitation must be reported immediately.
• Risk to yourself or others: If you express thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or harming others, we will need to involve safeguarding and support services.
• Legal requirements: In certain legal situations, information may need to be shared with authorities.

What we share with school: General progress updates and achievements may be shared with your Pathway Lead and school, but specific personal details from sessions will remain confidential unless there is a safeguarding concern.

3. Safeguarding

Your safety and wellbeing are our priority. If you have any concerns about:

• The safety of another student
• Something that doesn't feel right
• Any form of abuse, bullying, or harm

Please speak to your mentor, any member of staff, or contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately. You can also contact Childline (0800 1111) or the NSPCC if you need support.

4. Mentoring Expectations

What you can expect from your mentor:

• Regular, scheduled mentoring sessions
• A safe, non-judgmental space to talk
• Support in setting and working towards goals
• Help with problem-solving and developing strategies
• Advocacy and support when needed

What we expect from you:

• Attendance at scheduled mentoring sessions
• Honest and open communication
• Respect for your mentor and the mentoring process
• Engagement with agreed actions and targets

5. Recording Sessions

Mentoring sessions are recorded in Bromcom (our student management system) to:

• Track your progress and achievements
• Ensure continuity of support
• Help plan future sessions
• Share progress updates with your Pathway Lead (general updates only)

Personal and sensitive information remains confidential unless there is a safeguarding concern.
